Sharing Holiday Traditions

As we rounded out the first week in the our new space, we had a special guest and friend come share about how their family celebrates Hanukkah. We started the morning playing dreidel, trying to collect the most "coins". Our guest then shared about how her family lights the menorah, tells stories, says prayers, eats food, and exchanges gifts. She even brought a menorah and books to show the kids, giving them each the opportunity to practice the tradition.
Much like Diwali and Christmas, Hanukkah is a holiday about hope and miracles. Showing the people you love how much they mean to you. Giving back to the community and spending time reflecting on the light in your life. This holiday season we are challenging our students to radiate light into the world! This Friday will be our first annual "Helping Elves Holiday Party" where we are collecting wrapping paper and tape for the Tesori Family Foundation's "Hope for the Holidays" event, as well as creating beautiful cards for the special families and kids who will receive the gifts.

We look forward to more opportunities in the new year for service projects and also continuing to learn about diverse holidays and traditions.
